    A small business with no website, or an outdated one, rarely has the time or the skills to build one. In 2021, AI tools that make a site in minutes did not exist yet.

The project

In May 2021, with two friends, I launched Shortcode Dev: a website-on-demand service for small businesses. This was before AI tools that generate a site in minutes: every site started from the client's needs, and we designed and built it for them.

My role

  • The offer: what we offered small businesses, and how to present it.
  • Prospecting: about fifty companies approached, to present the service and understand their needs.
  • Marketing and communication: our own site, launched by the three of us in three weeks, and how we went after our first clients.

How it went

Five websites built and sold to clients. The project stopped in February 2022, after nine months of activity.
